flylo.co.uk.com.org.net.com.com

Fans of Little Britain know it of course, but for those of us who have missed the hilariously funny "sequal" of funnymen Matt Lucas and David Walliams, you should check the BBC. They are repeating Come Fly With Me, a mockumentary that takes a look at the lives of people who live and work at the airport. Most characters are played by Mr. Lucas and Mr. Walliams themselves (as they did in Little Britain) and mock low-cost airlines like FlyLo, Great British Air and Our Lady Air.

Every week we meet new characters or get a deeper inside in some of the recurring ones. Our favourites are:

- Melody Baines and Keeley St Clair – Liverpudlian check-in staff for FlyLo

- Tommy Reid – A young Scottish man working at the airport's Happy Burger, hoping to work his way up to becoming a pilot, unaware that the two jobs are completely unrelated.

- Precious Little – The devout Christian manager of the airport's coffee kiosk, who deliberately causes problems which force the closure of the kiosk, allowing her to take the day off.

BeWelcome: a valid alternative to CouchSurfing

Now that CouchSurfing has revealed its true nature and gone Corporate (or should we say "they finally admitted that they have always been in it for the money"?) many travelers and users of Hospitality Exchange networks are looking for a valid alternative to Couch Surfing.

Number one contender would be www.bewelcome.org, a non-profit, free and open source travel and accommodation community run solely by volunteers. The number of members is still low (compared to the millions of CouchSurfing) but the community is strong and will hopefully benefit from the new members who don't necessarily like the changes that CS is going through.

The Doors are coming to Peer

40 years after Jim Morrison died in Paris, the Doors are back in Belgium. Minus the Lizard King himself of course, since he's still dead. And John Densmore won't be there either. But Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek are sure to light the festival with their own rendition of the songs that made them worlfamous in the late sixties.

Go Azerbaijan Go

I'm just watching the Eurosong festival 2011 with one eye and one ear, and so far only one country jumps out: Azerbaijan. They are my favourites for first prize. Running Scared" is a song performed by Azerbaijani duo Eldar & Nigar. It will represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The song was performed in, and qualified from the first semi-final on the 10th May. It will now be performed in the grand final on the 14th May.

The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town

I recently saw The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town, a documentary about the 4th LP by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The movie shows the essence of the record, and also of Bruce Springsteen. He is a perfectionist, or maybe better a control-freak, and despite all that (or maybe because of it?) he manages to overcome all the setback and produce a masterpiece. All the problems with his ex-manager, with the abundance of songs, the stress of coming up with a follow-up to Born to Run, with mixing the sound pictures he has in his mind... all these problems he overcomes and he manages to select 10 brilliant songs (out of a staggering 70+ collection).

On November 16 november The Boss will publish a 2-CD compilation that contains 21 'new' songs that were recorded during the Darkness on the Edge of Town-sessions.
