Be Kind Rewind

Michel Gondry is well-known for his strange, creative and provocative movies. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind or The Science of Sleep were both interesting. His new movie starts very slowly but once Jack Black erases all the videos and has to recreate them, the fun starts. He invents a new technique, called "sweding" a movie, which means remaking a movie in 20 minutes with basic materials and one video camera. The results are hilarious as he 'swedes' Rush Hour 2, Ghostbusters and Robocop.

This movie will probably not appeal to a large audience, but those who like Michel Gondry's other work or who like Jack Black will love it.

quote from Be Kind Rewind:

Jerry: [sung, poorly, to the tune of the Ghostbusters theme song] When you're walkin' down the street...
Jerry: [singing] ... and you see a little ghost...
Jerry: [singing] ... whatcha gonna do about -
[more out of tune]
Jerry: Ghostbusters?
Mike: What? What is that?
Jerry: That's the Ghostbusters theme song.
Mike: No.
Jerry: I'm pretty sure it is.

Jerry is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing his headaches. But he inadvertently causes his brain to become magnetized, leading to the unintentional destruction of all the movies in his friend's store. In order to keep the store's one loyal customer, an elderly lady with a tenuous grasp on reality, the pair re-create a long line of films including The Lion King, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters, When We Were Kings, Driving Miss Daisy, and Robocop, putting themselves and their townspeople into it. They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood
