Mirrors

This remake of a Korean Movie (Into the Mirrors) by Alexandre Aja has an interesting concept: what if mirrors are actually showing two sides of the world : a real one and an alternative one.

Keifer Sutherland plays an ex-cop who gets obsessed with this idea of duality and pretty soon we have a full-scale thriller/horror movie with two very VERY brutal scenes. Not for the faint-hearted! All through the movie the atmosphere is very creepy, the acting is bad or non-existent, and there is a beautiful woman running around all the time with lots of cleavage. Yes, you guessed it, in the end she falls in a pool of water and gets to run around like a genuine Miss-Wet-T-Shirt. How original :)

The last 2 minutes are great, but remind me too much of another movie whose name I will not write here because it will spoil the fun.

In short : very creepy, sometimes over the top, totally unbelievable with bland actors...if you like this stuff, you'll enjoy it. Otherwise stay well away

Quote from Mirrors:

Lorenzo Sapelli: It has been five years since the fire. They're still in a legal battle with the insurance company. Even cleaning up this mess is impossible. I wouldn't give faith about reopening. Besides, who'd ever want to shop here after everything that's happened? You know, the Meredith family acquired this building after St. Matthew's closed in 1952. It was the very first Mayflower to open on the east coast. The company wants up to patrol every couple of hours, but I do my rounds every three. That's more than enough. Anyway, you'll see. Not too much going on. It's pretty calm around here.

Ben Carson (Kiefer Sutherland) is an ex-cop dealing with post-traumatic stress syndrome, who takes a job as a night watchman at an old luxury department store that was burned in a large fire. Soon after he begins his job, Ben is haunted by horrific visions in the large mirrors of the store at night.
